# Word & character counter

Count words, Unicode characters, paragraphs and UTF-8 bytes as you write. Estimate reading and speaking time from common pacing assumptions.

## How to use it

1. Type or paste the text you want to work with.
2. Choose a conversion, clean-up or output option.
3. Copy the result or download it when an export is available.

## Example

Check whether a draft is near a 250-word target or estimate how long a short script will take to read.

## Limits and checks

Words are counted by whitespace. Reading-time estimates use 200 words per minute and speaking estimates use 130.

## Access and processing

Free to use without an account. Interactive processing requires JavaScript in a modern browser. Input is processed in the browser rather than sent to a processing server. Optional browser storage is not a synchronized account.
